About

“The Point,” as the village is affectionately called by locals, was established in 1878 as a separate and distinct municipality in the County of Lambton.  It is situated along the shores of the St. Clair River, where the azure blue water of Lake Huron ends its downstream flow through the Great Lakes System.

The Village of Point Edward takes pride in its Fire Department and firefighters, who are dedicated to provide an efficient and effective response to emergency situations and to provide fire prevention activities for children and families. The range of programs is designed to proudly protect the lives and properties of the residents in the community. The Point Edward Fire & Rescue consists of a full time Fire Chief and Fire Prevention Officer as well as 30 volunteer firefighters. Fire Services have broadened over the years and the firefighters are first responders in a number of areas, including Emergency Planning and Management.
